Hey everyone,
So the co-op’s first meeting is happening in just about a week and a half, and we are needing to get a headcount for purposes of bringing food and providing enough chairs. So if you are planning on attending, please RSVP to info@kitsapfoodcoop.org as soon as you can, or no later than this Sunday, Jan. 20.
It’s going to be an exciting and informative meeting -- I just met with Amber Englund, who is heading up the Tacoma Food Co-op, and she has generously agreed to be there to answer our questions. Tacoma is almost exactly one year into this process -- they started the same time we did, last year in January. They’ve made some exciting progress, and also experienced some bumps along the way (including the opening of a Whole Foods in their area, slated for the same time the co-op is opening). We’ll hear from her, and try to figure out how we can use her insight to help our effort run as smoothly and quickly as possible.
I’ll be emailing out an agenda and meeting documents to you as soon as you RSVP. Again, don’t forget to read the CGIN Manual, “How to Start a Co-op” before you arrive, or at the very least, try to skim it and read the case studies.
